Week Day Calendar
Monday: Temple is closed
Tuesday & Thursday: 6:30pm – 7:45pm. Two, 30-minute meditation periods, followed by vespers. You are welcome to come to one of the meditation periods only.
Please note: Thurs. evening, Sept. 12th is an introductory evening.
Wednesday Afternoon: 2:00 – 4:00pm. Scripture recitation followed by meditation and book discussion
Friday: 7:30 – 8:30am. Meditation and a short service
Sunday Schedule: 10:00am meditation; 10:30am scripture recitation, ceremony or other activity expressing meditation in activity; 11:15am Dharma talk/discussion; ends at 12:30pm. You are welcome to come to the meditation period only, arriving by 9:50am, or for the Dharma talk only, arriving by 11:00am.
Saturday, September 7th: No scheduled event on calendar.
Sunday, September 8th: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Two meditation periods with a Dharma talk in the meditation hall; discussion and tea.
Saturday, September 14th: 11:00am – 2:00pm. Priory Work Day. Yard work plus general cleaning in the priory. It is fine to come for a portion of the scheduled work period. You are welcome to bring a snack.
Sunday, September 15th: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Meditation and Full Dharma talk and tea.
Saturday, September 21st: No scheduled event on calendar.
Sunday, September 22nd: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Meditation and Festival of Bodhidharma; Dharma talk and tea.
Saturday, September 28th: 9:00am – 3:00pm. Day of Meditation. The day begins with a period of meditation at 9:00am. There will be 30-minute meditation periods followed by walking meditation throughout the day. You are welcome to come and join in any part of the day that you wish. If you intend to stay for a longer period, it may be helpful to bring a lunch.
Sunday, September 29th: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Meditation and Renewing the Precepts ceremony; Dharma talk and tea.
Saturday, Oct. 5th: 10:00 – 12:00am. Introduction to Zen Meditation. This introduction includes: physical postures for meditation; the mind of meditation; ceremonial as meditation; and a discussion of Buddhist ethics and moral practice.
Sunday, Oct. 6th: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Two meditation periods with a Dharma talk in the meditation hall; discussion and tea.
Saturday, Oct. 12th: No scheduled activity.
Sunday, Oct. 13th: 10:00am – 12:30 noon. Meditation and recitation of Shushogi; Dharma talk and tea.
Saturday, Oct. 19th: 11:00am – 3:00pm. Work Day. Segaki preparation and cleaning of the temple.
Sunday, Oct. 20th: 3:30 – 6:00pm. Segaki Festival. (No morning activities this day.) In this late afternoon ceremony, we recognize and offer merit to those who have died in the past year, particularly under painful, difficult, or despairing circumstances. There will be tea following the ceremonies.
Saturday, Oct. 26th: No scheduled activity.
Sunday, Oct. 27th: 10:00am – 12:30pm. Meditation and Renewing the Precepts ceremony; Dharma talk and tea.
